Turned 21 last friday (June 11). It was a refreshing experience to spend the day first time in the office, thankful for my team who took time to greet me and spam emails just for that hehe.
Never really got to celebrate it formally, though we had an overnight at home last saturday with a few friends (Guitar Hero and Nintendo Wii all night!) topped with the staple pizza and pasta for snacks.
The best part though: more post bday celebs to come! seriously, I need to go out more often.
Philippines is not ready for democracy, it never was.
Apathy is one thing I’m guilty of, I find national issues and political concerns as overrated (a bit unusual for a political science major like me) because I blame the system where a culture of corruption and self interested public officials exists. I always thought that the people were victims, innocent beings who clamor for change. But now I saw the bigger picture of who’s really responsible for the kind of state we have now.
political dynasties, media personalities, black propaganda, irresponsible voting, traditional politicians, vote buying/selling, unqualified public officials, etc. the list could go on and on..
we have been patronizing the same things that we wanted to change, seriously???
There’s no turning back now, you reap what you sow.
Let me rant about few things that I’m having issues with these past few months.
Filipinos get hyped up during elections especially when it’s campaign period and with opinions flying, advertisements proliferating, supporters arguing and nonstop political bickering, it really gets annoying at some point. The desperate attempts of candidates to win the hearts of many and the exchange accusations between parties does not really help the matter. But come to think of it, this is what characterizes Philippine politics after all.
It’s payback time for Mother Earth as she’s turning up the heat and let us feel her wrath about global warming. Good thing there’s always the dependable air conditioner, thank you modern technology.
I’ve recently developed skin rashes due to the heat and it’s forbidden me to wear shorts and swimwear for the meantime, less sun exposure in summer?.. God I could die.
Everyone’s giving me the third degree as to why I did not pursue law school which was my first choice. I have my reasons and I can’t single out one to explain why I’ve made the decision not to study for now and that’s why I can’t give a direct answer to anyone who asks.
